Following a continuous nine-day holiday for the holy occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr, all government, semi-government, autonomous, and semi-autonomous offices will reopen from, Sunday.
March 27 was the last working day for officials and employees of these offices before Eid. The official holiday began on March 28, and extended over nine consecutive days.
Previously, in a meeting of the Advisory Council held on March 20, a proposal was approved to declare April 3 as a public holiday through an executive order in light of Eid-ul-Fitr.
As a result, a total of nine days of holiday was granted. Depending on the sighting of the moon, Eid-ul-Fitr was celebrated in the country on Monday.
The Advisory Council had approved a five-day holiday for Eid-ul-Fitr in 2024, up from the previous three days.
The Ministry of Public Administration later issued a gazette notification on October 21 regarding this extended holiday.
According to the notification, March 31 (Monday), the day of Eid-ul-Fitr, was a public holiday. The two preceding days—29 and 30 March (Saturday and Sunday)—and the two days following Eid—1 and 2 April (Tuesday and Wednesday)—were declared public holidays through an executive order.
In addition, 28 March (Friday) was a regular weekly holiday.
Furthermore, April 3 (Thursday) was declared a holiday via executive order, resulting in government employees enjoying an uninterrupted nine-day break.
Since the two subsequent days— April 4 and 5 (Friday and Saturday)—were weekly holidays, employees effectively had a full nine-day vacation.
