Measles outbreak: Death toll 928 as three children die in 24 hours

During the same period, 876 new suspected measles cases were recorded

The death toll from the ongoing measles outbreak has risen to 928, with three more children dying with measles-like symptoms in the 24 hours until 8am on Friday, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

The three latest deaths were classified as suspected measles fatalities, taking the number of suspected measles-related deaths to 829. Confirmed measles deaths remain at 99.

The DGHS also reported 876 new suspected measles cases during the 24-hour period, raising the nationwide tally of suspected cases to 147,591.

Meanwhile, 64 new laboratory-confirmed cases were recorded, taking the total number of confirmed measles infections to 18,208.

Since March 15, a total of 128,825 patients with suspected measles have been hospitalized across the country, of whom 124,558 have recovered, according to DGHS data.
