National Curriculum and Textbook Board (NCTB) Chairman Professor Dr AKM Reazul Hassan dismissed allegations that Rakhal Raha, also known as Sajjadur Rahman, a coordinator of the NCTB Textbook Revision Committee, was involved in a Tk400 crore commission business in the procurement of paper for printing textbooks.
"The news published by a media outlet, claiming commission business in paper procurement, is fake and mere propaganda," he said at a press conference held at the NCTB building in Motijheel, Dhaka on Tuesday.
The NCTB chairman said: "Rakhal Raha has no involvement in the procurement of paper for printing textbooks. The allegation that he was engaged in a Tk400 crore commission business regarding paper procurement is false. In reality, only Tk100 crore worth of paper has been purchased. So, how can a Tk400 crore transaction take place?"
He added: "Rakhal Raha was responsible for the textbook revision committee this year. He had no involvement in the tender process, textbook printing, or paper procurement. All these activities were conducted in full compliance with regulations."
