On the second day of the second phase of the 58th Bishwa Ijtema, Maulana Ilyas bin Saad from Delhi delivered a sermon after the Fajr prayer on Saturday, with Maulana Osama Islam translating it into Bengali.
Later in the morning, Mufti Yakub was scheduled to deliver a sermon on virtues and manners at 9:30am, followed by Khitay Khitay Talim from 10am until the Zuhr prayer.
After Zuhr, Arab guests were set to deliver sermons, translated by Maulana Mustafa Khalil. Hafez Manzur was scheduled to speak after the Asr prayer, with Maulana Ruhul Amin translating.
A dowry-free wedding was to be held at the Bayan Manch after Asr, where the bride and groom would neither see nor know each other beforehand. The marriage would take place without dowry or conditions.
Later, Maulana Yusuf bin Saad was scheduled to deliver a sermon after the Maghrib prayer, with Maulana Munir bin Yusuf translating.
On Sunday, Maulana Morsalin will deliver the Fajr sermon, with Maulana Osama Islam translating, followed by a guidance sermon from Maulana Yusuf bin Saad, translated by Maulana Munir bin Yusuf.
According to Mohammad Sayem, media coordinator of the Bangladesh chapter of Tabligh Jamaat (followers of Nizamuddin), millions of devotees from home and abroad are attending this year's Ijtema.
The second phase, which runs from February 14 to 16, has drawn thousands of worshippers engaged in prayers, zikir, and religious activities. The event will conclude with the final prayer on February 16.
As of 10pm on Friday, a total of 1,023 foreign devotees from 49 countries had been recorded in attendance. Authorities are continuing to facilitate the arrival of more foreign participants as numbers increase daily.
Meanwhile, another devotee, Abdul Aziz Sheikh, 60, from Naria upazila in Shariatpur, passed away at the Ijtema ground in Tongi. He fell ill around 10:30am and was taken to the hospital, where doctors declared him dead.
This brings the total number of worshipper deaths at this year’s Ijtema to three.
