The protesting first to 12th batch registered job aspirants of the Non-Government Teachers' Registration and Certification Authority (NTRCA) have announced the suspension of their movement.
The movement's chief coordinator, GM Yasin, made this announcement after a meeting at the Secretariat on Tuesday.
He said the movement's representatives have received assurances that the issue will be resolved by the first week of next month, prompting them to suspend their protest.
Earlier, eight representatives from the Non-Government Teachers' Registration and Certification Authority (NTRCA) were called in at the Secretariat.
The representatives travelled to the Secretariat in a police vehicle from Shahbagh police in the afternoon.
Earlier, during a press conference last week, Yasin highlighted that while the NTRCA had recommended appointments for 17 recruitment exams, only five mass notifications had been issued.
As a result, around 12,000 to 13,000 eligible teachers had faced discrimination, he said.
Many registered teachers had cleared multiple exams but had not received job recommendations, whereas some individuals had been appointed without even applying, Yasin claimed.
"Since October 8, 2021, we have been staging continuous human chains."
Due to bureaucratic complications within the NTRCA, their recruitment remained uncertain, he added.
“On October 17 and December 23, Sabbir Ahmed, APS to the chief adviser, assured us of swift recruitment, but the promise has not been fulfilled. The bureaucrats are not honouring that commitment. If our demands are not met, we will continue our sit-in protest indefinitely," Yasin warned.
