Bangladesh Railway issues safety directives amid dense fog

Pedestrians have been advised to be cautious when crossing unprotected railway crossings

Update : 03 Jan 2025, 11:00 PM

Due to the ongoing cold wave and dense fog across the country, Bangladesh Railway on Friday issued additional precautions to prevent potential accidents on railway tracks.

This information was disclosed in a press release issued by Rezaul Karim Siddiqui, the Public Relations Officer of the Ministry of Railways.

According to the release, running staff (those involved in train operations) must exercise utmost caution as visibility is reduced due to dense fog.

Employees stationed at railway crossings are required to perform their duties diligently.

The Ministry of Railways and Bangladesh Railway have also instructed and advised pedestrians to be cautious when crossing unprotected railway crossings and to avoid unnecessary movement on railway tracks.

Railway officials have said that the dense fog caused by the ongoing cold wave has significantly reduced visibility in some areas compared to normal conditions.

This has disrupted train operations by necessitating reduced speeds, thereby increasing the risk of accidents on railway tracks.

To prevent such accidents, all railway officials, employees, pedestrians, and other relevant parties have been urged to take extra precautions and follow the guidelines provided.
