The Ministry of Industries on Monday formed a committee to probe into the brutal murders and injury of crew members on the MV Al Bakhera ship loaded with fertilizer near the Harina ferry terminal in Chandpur, expressing its condolences.
In a statement, the ministry expressed its deep shock and condolences to the family members of the crew who had been brutally murdered and injured by a group of pirates and robbers on the MV Al Bakhera ship.
The ministry also demanded the immediate arrest and punishment of those involved.
It said a four-member investigation committee has been formed. An additional secretary of the ministry has been made the convener while a joint secretary has been made its member secretary.
The committee has been instructed to submit a report within the next five working days with clear information on the cause of the killings, the extent of damage and liability, and what to do in the future to prevent similar naval accidents.
