The Detective Branch (DB) of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) on Sunday night arrested the president of Eden Mohila College unit of the banned organization Bangladesh Chhatra League.
The arrestee, Tamanna Jasmin Riva, was arrested on charges of carrying out political activities.
Confirming the arrest, Additional Commissioner of DB, Rezaul Mallik, said: "The interim government has banned the Awami League's student wing, Bangladesh Chhatra League. Despite the ban, many members, including Riva, have been attempting to engage in political activities."
He added that Riva is facing multiple cases.
However, it is not yet clear under which case her arrest has been shown.
Riva is a student of Eden College's Marketing Department from the 2009-10 academic session.
