The Cox's Bazar district administration has granted permission for a tourist ship named Keari Sindabad to operate on the Cox's Bazar-St Martin's sea route.
This was confirmed by the Additional District Magistrate of Cox's Bazar, Nizam Uddin Ahmed, on Monday.
He stated that Keari Sindabad had applied to the deputy commissioner solely for permission to operate the ship.
After verification, the ship was given permission to depart from Cox's Bazar city. However, the exact date for its trip to the island will be decided by a committee formed by the Ministry.
The committee's convener and the Upazila Nirbahi Officer of Cox's Bazar, Nilufa Yasmin Chowdhury, mentioned that the committee meeting is scheduled for November 27.
During this meeting, they will decide the departure point for the ship.
For now, Keari Sindabad has been granted permission to operate.
Due to internal conflict in Myanmar, the Naf River has become unsafe, making it likely that the tourist ship will operate from Nunniachhara in Cox's Bazar to St Martin, according to relevant sources.
