Police recovered the bodies of a husband and wife from Rampura in the capital on Saturday.
The bodies were found at around 1pm.
The deceased are Md Jubayer, 21 and his wife Maysa Khatun 20.
Rampura police station's Inspector (Investigation) Md Shahadat Hossain confirmed the information.
He said that businessman Jubayer and his wife Maysa had been living in the Mati Masjid area of Rampura. Police received a call around 12pm, reporting that the couple’s apartment door was locked from the inside.
A police team arrived at the scene, broke the door, and found Jubayer and his wife hanging. The bodies were then recovered and sent to DMCH.
Inspector Shahadat Hossain further explained that Jubayer and Maysa had married two months ago, though they had been in a love relationship before that. After their marriage, they had been living together in a rented house in Rampura.
In the morning, Jubayer sent a brief message via Facebook Messenger to his cousin, mentioning where he had invested money. That cousin then informed the police.
Police added that Jubayer’s body was found hanging from the ceiling fan, while Maysa’s body was hanging from a window grill.
The exact cause of their deaths will be determined once the autopsy report is received, said the inspector.
The bodies were sent to the morgue of Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH).
