Adviser Mohammad Nahid Islam has said that he had left a video message calling for armed struggle in case of defeat or a mass killing carried out by Sheikh Hasina's government on August 5.

Nahid, who has been one of the coordinators of the anti-discrimination student movement leading the mass uprising, made this remark as a special guest during a prayer and discussion session in memory of martyr Nasib Hasan Rian.

The program was held at the Health Ministry conference room on Tuesday.

In the video, he said: “If a massacre occurs today (on August 5), we will call for armed struggle. We might not return, but you all will continue to fight. I had sent a video to some journalists. If I don’t return today, if we do not achieve victory today, then this is our last message. We were all prepared for death, and we still are."

Nahid said that everyone was ready to become martyrs during that time.

“Nasib announced on Facebook and took to the streets, telling his family that he might die today (on August 5). For those of us in the field, this was our reality."

Discussing the resentment among the injured and their families due to negligence, he said: "I have visited the hospital and talked to many families. Many people are asking them, who are suffering in hospital beds, why they joined the movement. I don’t know what kind of inhuman people can say such things. We are able to talk here today because they went to the movement."

He acknowledged that while there are many expectations from the government, it may not be able to fulfill them all. In two and a half to three months, everyone is piling on demands.

“But we have achieved a major milestone: we have liberated ourselves from 16 years of autocracy and fascism, and we can talk about possibilities today. This has been possible because these people took to the streets, facing bullets."

Nahid Islam emphasized the desire to build a dignified and corruption-free Bangladesh. "This aspiration is shared by people across the country. We will all work together for this."

He expressed the importance of keeping condolences and gratitude towards the families of the martyrs and the injured alive

Nahid further said: "Many children from Awami families also participated in this movement, so there are many dimensions to this struggle. Perhaps we have yet to fully discover them."

He concluded by stressing the need to remember the injured and the martyrs: "In various issues, we tend to forget many things. For Bangladesh to function properly, we must continually revisit those memories and hold ourselves accountable, ensuring that we do not go down a wrong path built on the blood of these people."

Nahid Islam urged government officials to engage with the families of the martyrs and the injured, offering support and assistance.
