Friday operations of the Metro rail began in Dhaka with people enjoying a joyful afternoon of travel on the weekend.

The service was launched from Uttara to Motijheel.

Abdur Rouf, Managing Director of Dhaka Mass Transit Company Limited (DMTCL), told BSS that the metro rail train departed from Uttara North station at 3:30pm, bound for Motijheel station.

From now on, every Friday, the MRT will operate from Uttara North to Motijheel between 3:30pm and 9:00pm, and from Motijheel to Uttara North between 3:50pm and 9:40pm, he said.

In another development, metro rail services have resumed from Kazipara station after the DMTCL completed repairs on the station, which was partially damaged during the anti-discrimination movement in July.

Kazipara station was swiftly prepared for operation in response to commuter demand, although some equipment still needs to be fixed for complete restoration.
