Awami League: Viral resignation letter of Sheikh Hasina is fake

The Awami League claimed on their verified Facebook page

Six weeks after the resignation of former prime minister Sheikh Hasina amid a mass uprising on August 5, a resignation letter of former prime minister Sheikh Hasina has gone viral on social media.

Sheikh Hasina fled to India after her resignation.

At that time, the army chief informed the media about this.

The resignation letter circulating on Facebook appears to have been sent from the Prime Minister’s Office to the president on August 5.

However, the Awami League has claimed on their verified Facebook page that this resignation letter is fake.

The party stated: "The publication of such immaturely edited resignation letters on the country’s TV channels is nothing but a sign of desperation."

The Awami League questioned the authenticity of the viral resignation letter with several points:

  • The letter includes the Mujib Year logo, which ended in 2021!
  • The letter is extremely unclear.
  • The language of the resignation letter seems improvised and nonsensical.
  • Sheikh Hasina’s signature appears to be taken from Google, showing noticeable pixel differences from the original page.
  • August 5 was 21 Shravan, but the resignation letter is dated 20 Shravan!

The post further states: "Do not use the country’s media so blatantly to make a fool of yourselves. Sheikh Hasina did not follow any formal resignation procedure; she flew straight from Tejgaon to India. Instead of spreading these rumors, focus on solving the country’s problems."

On the afternoon of August 5, Sheikh Hasina traveled to India by a military helicopter. She is still there.

Recently, a phone conversation was leaked on social media, allegedly between Sheikh Hasina and Tanjbir Kaisar, an expatriate Awami League leader in the United States.

In the conversation, Sheikh Hasina is heard stating that she has not resigned and is still the elected Prime Minister of Bangladesh.
