The Bangladesh Air Force and the Armed Police Battalion (APBn) have stepped in to provide security duties in place of the Ansar personnel who are on strike demanding permanent employment status.
As of Monday, the Chittagong Shah Amanat International Airport is being secured not only by its own security staff but also by members of the Bangladesh Air Force (BAF), Battalion Ansar, and the APBn.
Mohammad Ibrahim Khalil, the public relations officer of Shah Amanat International Airport, confirmed this information on Monday.
He stated: "Previously, 200 Ansar members were assigned duties at Chittagong Shah Amanat International Airport. Since August 22, the Ansar members have been on strike demanding permanent employment."
In response to this situation, the airport authorities have managed to keep airport operations running smoothly by rescheduling their security staff (Avsec- Aviation Security) and, in some cases, having them work double shifts to cover the additional duties.
He added: "Members of the Bangladesh Air Force are responsible for security in the landside, apron area, and perimeter of the airport. Additionally, 75 Battalion Ansar members and APBn personnel are working to ensure security. The airport operations remain normal."
