BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia has received a renewed passport.
The party's media cell member Shairul Kabir Khan confirmed this information to the media on Wednesday.
Sources say the renewal process for Khaleda Zia's passport was completed on Tuesday.
Subsequently, Khaleda Zia's personal secretary, ABM Abdus Sattar, received her renewed machine-readable passport (MRP) on her behalf later that night.
Khaleda Zia, currently undergoing treatment for various ailments, was released on executive order on Tuesday.
The move came after Sheikh Hasina resigned as prime minister on Monday and fled the country in the face of massive protests.
Sentenced in two corruption cases, Khaleda Zia had been imprisoned for more than two years.
On March 25, 2020, the government suspended her sentence and granted her conditional release through an executive order.
Subsequently, every six months, upon application, her sentence suspension and release period were extended by the government.
