Students in the Science Lab area of the capital intercepted and confiscated looted items that had been taken from the Ganabhaban.
The seized items, which included air conditioners, refrigerators, chairs, tables, and computers, were being carried away by people who went to the Ganabhaban after Sheikh Hasina’s resignation as the prime minister.
The students prevented the people from taking the items and promptly informed the army about the situation.
A student, Tanzina Siddiqua, said: "These items are not for our personal use. We cannot take state property in this way."
A large number of people entered the Jatiya Sangsad building in the capital after breaking through the main entrance to the building Monday.
Following the fall of Sheikh Hasina’s government, students were seen dancing and cheering inside the parliament building. Some were also seen smoking while sitting on the chairs of the parliament hall.
Videos of the incident went viral on social media.
Another group entered Ganabhaban and was observed looting and posing with live animals and furniture at the residence of the country’s prime minister.
Meanwhile, hours after the vandalism and looting started–some men started a fire outside the Ganabhaban premises. A large crowd was seen cheering around the fire.
On the other hand, some people were also seen offering prayers at Ganabhaban.
