Thousands of people have stormed Ganabhaban, the official residence of the prime minister, after receiving news that Sheikh Hasina had resigned.
The crowd was seen cheering with raised hands on the grounds of Ganabhaban, chanting in celebration.
Around 3:30pm, many were seen leaving the premises with various items from the residence.
Following her resignation as prime minister, Sheikh Hasina left Bangladesh on Monday afternoon, accompanied by her younger sister, Sheikh Rehana.
They later arrived in Agartala, Tripura, India, with plans to continue on to London.
