Quota movement: Students leave Shahbagh declaring to continue program

The agitating students marched from Shahbagh towards the science lab

Rakib Hossain, a student of the chemistry department, co-coordinator of the anti-discrimination student movement, and one of the coordinators of Dhaka College branch announced that the movement will continue until the 9-point demand is met.

He announced this at the Shahbag intersection on Friday around 5pm.

Later, the agitators marched from Shahbagh towards the science lab.

The protesting students said that the police fired indiscriminately on the students following orders of the government. They killed the students. They also carried out mass arrests of common people including students.

“We will not rest until we get justice.”

At that time, more than a thousand students from various colleges and universities of the capital including Dhaka College, Brac University, City College, Ideal College, Kabi Nazrul College, and Asia Pacific University were present.

The agitating students chanted various slogans supporting their demands.

They shouted slogans of 'Bhua Bhua' for a long time at the police.

The students also raised slogans like: “Why did the police kill my brother?”

Earlier, Chhatra League and Jubo League leaders and activists had taken a position at Shahbag intersection for an hour till the agitating students came from the science lab.

Hearing the news of the agitating students' march, they left Shahbagh and went elsewhere.

 Meanwhile, a large number of policemen were seen taking position in front of Shahbagh police station.
