A legal notice has been sent requesting that broadband internet service providers charge only 50% of the current month's bill due to the recent nationwide shutdown of broadband internet services.
The notice was sent to four officials, including the secretary of the Ministry of Posts, Telecommunications and Information Technology, and the chairman of the Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (BTRC).
Supreme Court lawyer Ishrat Hasan sent the notice by registered post on behalf of the Bangladesh Mobile Phone Consumers' Association (BMPCA) on Monday.
The notice urges the recipients to take immediate measures to compensate the public for the loss caused by the lack of internet services and to address issues related to the current low-speed internet.
All broadband service providers have been asked to take necessary action in this regard within 48 hours of receiving the notice.
