Update : 27 Jul 2024, 07:23 PM

After being suspension for five consecutive days, launch operations have been started from the capital's main river port, Sadarghat Launch Terminal.

However, extreme irregularities were reported in the launch operation.

The launch was seen to ply even after the government-mandated time for operation had passed.

Chandpur-bound MV Sonar Tari-3 launch can be seen leaving the Sadarghat launch terminal at 8:30pm on Friday.

However, according to the government's instructions, no launch will be allowed to operate after 5pm.

When the cabin in-charge of MV Sonar Tari-3 was asked about this, he said that launch movement has resumed at Sadarghat from Thursday.

But the number of passengers is very low.

However, he completely avoids the issue of launch movement even after 5pm.

Shahidul Islam of Chandpur is a cloth trader. He has a cloth shop in there.

He told the media, he came to Dhaka's Gulistan to buy some clothes at a cheap price.

“As it was too late to return after buying clothes, I thought I would not get any launch, but Sonar Tari-3 has not yet left. That's why I'm going back to this launch.”

Talking to Sadarghat traffic inspector's office in this regard, they said that the launches are running from 8am to 5pm during the curfew

A total of 31 launches arrived and a total of 48 left since Friday morning

“No such incident of operation launches after 5pm should happen. We will inquire about it. In general, they try to avoid the issue. And none of them agreed to reveal their names to the media.”

Meanwhile, when a curfew was imposed across the country on July 20 to stop the ongoing violence centered on the quota reform movement, all activities, including traffic, were suspended.

However, the curfew was slightly relaxed from July 25 and later it was ordered that all activities in the country would continue from 8am to 5pm.
