The students complained that during their peaceful protest and sit-in program last night, the leaders and activists of the Chhatra League carried out an armed attack with outsiders under police guard.

Hundreds of students including teachers and journalists were injured.

As a result, all the general students of the campus and the students of nearby colleges are also on alert at important gates and roads of the university on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, the JU authorities have sat in an emergency syndicate to take a decision on this tense situation of the university. The teachers of the university have taken a position in front of the new administrative building in the centre of the syndicate meeting which started from 1:30 pm.

Meanwhile, the teachers termed last night's attack as “black night” in the history of JU and demanded punishment against those involved.

University proctor Dr Mohammad Alamgir Kabir said that police have been deployed along with JU security wing staff for the overall security of the campus.
