The Anti-Corruption Commission on Thursday approved a charge sheet against Bengal Group Chairman Abul Khair Litu in a case filed on charges of amassing wealth worth Tk90 crore beyond known sources of income.
ACC Deputy Director Aktarul Islam confirmed the matter to Dhaka Tribune.
He said the commission approved a charge sheet against Abul Khair Litu for his illegal wealth and concealing information about it.
ACC Deputy Director, Kamruzzaman, and the investigation officer of the case submitted the charge sheet to the commission's regular meeting for approval last week.
According to the charge sheet, the Bengal Group chairman also concealed information about his wealth worth Tk11.12 lakh in his wealth statement submitted to the commission.
Meanwhile, commission Deputy Director Monayem Hossain filed a case against Abul Khair Litu’s wife, Mahua Khair, on Thursday on charges of amassing illegal wealth worth Tk2.52 crore.
According to the case statement, Mahua submitted her wealth statement to the ACC, showing her movable and immovable wealth worth Tk6.66 crore.
The commission discovered that Mahua Khair accumulated wealth totaling Tk7.24 crore, but found legal sources of income for only Tk4.71 crore.
On April 17 last year, ACC filed a case against Abul Khair Litu with its integrated district office in Dhaka-1.
