A mild earthquake was felt in a large part of the country, including the capital Dhaka.
According to USGS, the magnitude of the quake was 4.8.
The Meteorological Department said that the earthquake occurred at 2:44pm Bangladesh time on Sunday. Its centre is 441 southeast of Dhaka in the Mawlaik area of Myanmar.
Chittagong Airport Meteorological Office Forecast Officer MH Mosaddek confirmed the information to Dhaka Tribune.
The earthquake in Myanmar originated at a depth of 110km, according to India's National Centre for Seismology. According to their information, the earthquake occurred at 2:14pm local time in Myanmar.
The earthquake in Myanmar was felt in Rangamati and Khagrachari as well. Besides, the earthquake was also felt in Dhaka, Comilla and Cox's Bazar.
No damage was immediately reported.
Earlier on Wednesday, an earthquake of magnitude 5.6 occurred in the same area of Myanmar. That earthquake was also felt across large areas of the country including Dhaka and Chittagong.
Strong earthquakes have occurred in this place in Myanmar at different times before.
