The metro rail will resume its service on Saturday after a two-day closure due to Eid-ul-Fitr, one of the greatest religious festivals of the Muslims.

It was closed during Eid last year too.

The service was suspended on Thursday on the occasion of Eid, while Friday is the weekly closure.

Besides, there will be no extra hour of operations, which was extended due to the rush during Ramadan, according to Dhaka Mass Transit Company Limited (DMTCL). It means the last train will leave Motijheel at 8:40pm.

The number of passengers increased after the extension of service by one hour at the end of March.

The operator said an average of 246,000 passengers used metro rail every day during Ramadan. Before Ramadan, the number was around 295,000. On certain days, the number even reached as high as 300,000.
