Home Minister: Effort underway to dissolve Ijtema dispute

  • Asks the followers of  two group to work together
  • ‘All preparations have been done for Bishwa Ijtema’

Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal said on Monday that an effort is underway to resolve the conflict between the groups of Maulana Zubair and Maulana Saad over Bishwa Ijtema.

He asked the supporters of Indian preacher Maulana Saad Kandhalvi to hand over the ground authority to the followers of Maulana Zubair in the morning. 

The minister said: “We have completed the preparation regarding Bishwa Ijtema successfully. Now we do not want any conflict between the two groups. I pledge to both groups to work together and to learn people to work together.”

Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal said these things in a meeting regarding the preparation of Bishwa Ijtema held near the Bishwa Ijtema ground on Monday afternoon. 

Religious Affairs Minister Faridul Haque Khan,  Liberation War Affairs Minister AKM Mozammel Haque, Zahid Ahsan Russel MP and Inspector General of Police (IGP)  Chowdhury Abdullah Al Mamun also attended the meeting. 

Religious Affairs Minister Faridul Haque Khan said that the conflict between two groups in the Bishwa Ijtema is inconsiderable. 

“Past mistakes should be brought to attention,” he said. 

 Minister AKM Mozammel Haque said that the Bogra Bypass 300-feet road will be used for transport movement as an alternative to reduce the suffering of the Muslims who came to Ijtema. 

Zahid Ahsan Russel MP said that the water supply has been ensured for the Bishwa Ijtema.

Inspector General of Police (IGP)  Chowdhury Abdullah Al Mamun said that various initiatives have been taken to make the Bishwa Ijtema a success.

Gazipur Metropolitan Police (GMP) Commissioner Mahbubur Rahman said that 200 CCTV cameras will be installed to ensure security at the Ijtema ground. 

The followers of Maulana Jubayer will join the first phase of Bishwa Ijtema to be held from February 2 to 4.

The second phase of the Ijtema will be held from February 9 to February 11, 2024, while the supporters of Indian preacher Maulana Saad Kandhalvi will take part in it.
