The Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) arrested an accused scammer who used to disguise himself as the nephew of Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal and even as the younger brother of DMP Commissioner Habibur Rahman.
Hazaribagh police station Officer-in-Charge Noor Mohammad said the arrestee Juton Mia's whereabouts were located using information technology, and he was captured during a raid in the Kamrangirchar area in Dhaka on Wednesday.
An arrest warrant has been issued for Jotun, who is a resident of Chandpur's Faridganj, in connection with a fraud case that was filed with the Metropolitan Magistrate's Court in Sylhet.
OC Noor Mohammad said Juton Mia allegedly conned a person named AH Razzak Rajan of Tk70,00,000 numerous times by masquerading as the son of the home minister's sister and the DMP commissioner's younger brother. He presented plenty of morphed images to make his imitation more convincing.
However, Razzak detected the accused's impersonation and filed a complaint with the Metropolitan Magistrate's Court in Sylhet.
The arrestee was handed over to the Faridganj police station in Chandpur, OC said.
