Additional Secretary Ajay Kumar Chakraborty has been appointed as the chairman of the Bangladesh Rural Electrification Board (BREB).
Assuming the office on Monday, Ajay Kumar Chakraborty paid tribute to Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman by placing a wreath at the portrait of the architect of the nation at Dhanmondi Road 32.
Later, he also laid a wreath at the tomb of Bangabandhu in Tungipara of Gopalganj. At the time, officials of the BREB accompanied the new chairman.
Ajay Kumar Chakraborty started his career in the Public Works Department (PWD) as an assistant engineer through the 15th BCS. While working at PWD, he served in Khulna, Cox's Bazar, Tangail, Rajshahi and Dhaka. He joined the Ministry of Public Administration after being promoted to the rank of deputy secretary in 2012.
Later, he was promoted to the rank of joint secretary in 2019 and to the rank of additional secretary in 2023.
