A total of 512 people were killed in 517 road accidents across Bangladesh in December, according to a Road Safety Foundation report.
Among the deceased, there were 59 women and 64 children. Besides, 793 people were left injured in the accidents, the report released on Thursday says.
Many of the accidents involved motorcycles–201 people were killed in 213 motorcycle accidents.
One hundred fourteen pedestrians died in the accidents. Meanwhile, the accidents claimed the lives of 56 vehicle drivers and their assistants.
The report says nine maritime accidents took place last month, killing 17 and injuring 14.
Per the report, 162 of the accidents took place on national highways, 238 on regional roads, 77 on rural roads, 37 on city roads and three in other places.
