As the BNP and its like-minded parties are enforcing their 10th round of a countrywide blockade, 422 patrol teams of the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB), including 130 in the capital, have been deployed to maintain law and order.
RAB personnel posted at important places including bus stands and railway stations are in disguise to prevent any kind of vandalism and violence, RAB Legal and Media Wing Director Commander Khandaker Al Moin said on Wednesday morning.
“Long-distance public transport and good-laden vehicles in various parts of the country are being escorted by RAB teams to ensure they reach their destinations safely. Furthermore, RAB detectives are conducting surveillance in disguise at key locations.”
The latest 48-hour total blockade called by the BNP to demand the resignation of the government, the cancellation of the national election schedule, and the release of arrested leaders and activists, including BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia, started at 6am on Wednesday.
