BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia's physical condition is now slightly better after undergoing surgery on Thursday evening under the supervision of doctors from the United States.
The party's General Secretary Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir told reporters at a press conference organized at the central office in Naya Paltan on Friday.
The BNP secretary general stated that expert doctors from abroad arrived, and the procedure conducted on Thursday evening was highly successful. Khaleda Zia is currently in the Critical Care Unit (CCU).
According to the latest update from the doctors, she is recovering well after the post-operation stage. Skilled doctors from the United States performed a procedure to create a new connection between two blood vessels in Khaleda Zia's liver, which is affected by liver cirrhosis, using the Transjugular intrahepatic portosystemic shunt (TIPS) process.
The former prime minister has been suffering from various ailments, including liver cirrhosis, arthritis, diabetes, kidney, lung, heart, and eye problems.
