Gold price hits record high in Bangladesh

The price of 22-carat gold has hit Tk1,02,876 per bhori, the highest in the history of Bangladesh.

Bangladesh Jewellers’ Association (Bajus) announced the rate in a press release on Thursday.

According to the press release, the price of 22-carat gold has been increased by Tk2,333.

The new rate will be effective from Friday.

With the new rates, 21-carat gold will cost Tk98,210 per bhori and 18-carat gold will cost Tk84,214 per bhori.

According to different categories, the price of 22-carat heavy silver is Tk1,715 per gram. 

The price of 21-carat silver is Tk1,633, per bhori 18-carat silver costs Tk1,400 and the price of traditionally acquired silver is Tk1,050 per bhori.

In the release, Bajus stated that the adjustment came as a result of a price increase in the local bullion market.

Earlier on October 16, The price of 22 carat gold was increased by Tk1,166.

The earlier historic high was Tk101,243 a bhori, which came into effect on August 25 in 2023.
