The International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) is keen to continue all kinds of support to the Bangladesh government to promote its aviation sector as part of its implementation of Vision 2041.
The Liberalization of air transport is necessary to make Bangladesh an aviation hub, said ICAO Secretary General Juan Carlos Salazar at a press conference on the closing day of the 58th conference of Director General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) on Thursday.
He said: “To build an aviation hub, ICAO will provide training, management, and guidelines under a bilateral framework .”
During a bilateral meeting with Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, ICAO Council President Salvatore Sciacchitano commended the state's long-standing commitment to cooperation with ICAO and the premier’s exemplary leadership on gender equality priorities, particularly within the aviation sector.
On Monday, Carlos along with ICAO Council President Salvatore Sciacchitano paid a courtesy call to Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina at her official residence Ganabhaban.
Hailing Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, Salazar said: “This country not only has a present, this country has a future."
He further said: “I am confident that Bangladesh's vision for progress, emphasizing its people, gender equality, and nurturing the next generation of professionals, will elevate the country to a leading position, not only in the region but also on the global stage.”
Civil Aviation Authority of Bangladesh Chairman Air Vice Marshal M Mafidur Rahman emphasized the shared vision to transform Bangladesh into an aviation hub and highlighted ongoing developmental efforts at the nation's airports, in alignment with Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina's directives.
Acknowledging the pivotal role of aviation in achieving Bangladesh's goals, the chairman emphasized the sector's essential contribution to realizing the vision of a “Smart Bangladesh by 2041”.
