  • More than 10 patients in a week
  • Dire risk of dengue infection
Update : 15 Sep 2023, 05:17 PM

Two wards of Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) have been identified as red zones for dengue.

The DSCC residents of wards no 14 and 56 are at dire risk of dengue infection, according to DSCC sources.

Both wards have been declared on the criteria of receiving more than 10 dengue patients per week.

A total of 11 dengue cases were reported in these wards from September 2-8, after thorough verification and review of patient information from various sources, including the health directorate and control room phone records.

To prevent the spread of dengue in these declared red zone areas, the city corporation has called for increased public participation in cleanliness activities.

A comprehensive program will be conducted on Saturday in both wards, involving special cleaning and the eradication of Aedes mosquito breeding sites.

DSCC Mayor Barrister Sheikh Fazle Noor Taposh will participate in Ward No 14 at 10:30am and Ward No 56 at 11am.

The program will engage 950 cleaners in special cleaning activities across the two wards, with 13 mosquito workers participating in larviciding and adulticide efforts both in the morning and afternoon in each ward.

Previously, on August 26, wards 5, 22, 53, and 60 of the South City were also declared as dengue red zones.
