Dengue fever: Three die as 580 cases recorded in 24 hours

Bangladesh this year has witnessed so far 59 deaths while the disease has inflicted 16,684

Health officials on Monday said they recorded 580 fresh cases of dengue onslaughts, killing at least three persons in the past 24 hours.

“During the period, of the 580, 81 patients were hospitalized in the Barisal division, 79 in the Chittagong division, 125 in the Dhaka division, 78 in the Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) and 59 in the Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) areas, 67 in the Khulna division, 36 in the Mymensingh division, 22 in the Rajshahi division, 31 in the Rangpur division, and two in the Sylhet division," a Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) statement said.

Since the start of the dengue onslaughts, Bangladesh this year has witnessed so far 59 deaths while the disease has inflicted 16,684.

Dengue last year claimed 413 lives and afflicted 102,861 people in the country.

Besides, dengue claimed 575 lives and afflicted 101,214 people in 2024.
