Chinese Enterprises Association in Bangladesh (CEAB), a platform of more than 270 Chinese companies, has announced the establishment of eight dedicated branches to facilitate Chinese investment and development in Bangladesh.
Ke Changliang, president of CEAB and country head of China Civil Engineering Construction Corporation (CCECC) for Bangladesh, reviewed the track record of CEAB in Bangladesh and outlined the contributions of Chinese companies made so far to the socioeconomic development of Bangladesh.
This issue was discussed at a recent seminar titled “China-Bangladesh Enterprises High-quality Development Seminar: Achievements and Way Forward.”
The CEAB president said in Bangladesh, Chinese companies had so far built 12 roads and 21 bridges totalling 550km, constructed seven railway lines with a total length of 541.9km, and implemented 27 power and energy projects whose total installed capacity accounted for more than 50% of the country’s capacity.
He highlighted Chinese companies’ active investment in Bangladesh, saying in EPZs, more than 25% of investors were from China.
CEAB, under the guidance of the Chinese Embassy in Bangladesh and local government agencies, had decided to subdivide their operations into eight industrial branches, each focusing on specific sectors such as power and energy, information and communication technology (ICT), harbour and port, roads and bridges, water and environment, railway and civil aviation, textile and garments, and trade and services, he added.
“We believe these eight specific branches of CEAB will boost investment from China, create more jobs for the local community and contribute to the sustainable growth of Bangladesh," Ke said.
