Prime Minister Tarique Rahman, along with heads of government of six other countries, attended a state dinner hosted by Chinese Premier Li Qiang in Dalian on Tuesday evening.

The dinner was arranged in honour of the heads of state and government attending the 17th Annual Meeting of the New Champions of the World Economic Forum (WEF), also known as Summer Davos.

Prime Minister Tarique Rahman was accompanied by his spouse, Dr Zubaida Rahman, at the event.

Other heads of government present at the dinner include South Korean Prime Minister Kim Min-seok, Mongolian Prime Minister Nyam-Osor Uchral, Guinean Prime Minister Amadou Oury Bah, Montenegrin Prime Minister Milojko Spajić and Kazakh Prime Minister Oljas Bektenov.

Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) Spokesperson Mahdi Amin said the dinner provided an opportunity for informal interaction among the leaders.

“Seven prime ministers, including Prime Minister Tarique Rahman, met and dined together at the state dinner. This opened space for informal dialogue,” he said.

Prime Minister Tarique Rahman arrived in Dalian on Monday night after completing a two-day official visit to Malaysia. He was given a red-carpet reception at the Dalian International Airport.

After attending the WEF sessions on Wednesday morning, Tarique Rahman is scheduled to travel to Beijing by bullet train in the afternoon for the next programs.
