Minister: 400C spent on dengue patient treatment this year

Health Minister Zahid Maleque on Sunday said that the government has spent Tk400 crore for the treatment of dengue patients this year.

He gave this information at a round table discussion on dengue management at Hotel Sheraton in Banani in the capital on Sunday afternoon.

The health minister said that Tk50,000 have been spent on one dengue patient. 

He also said that although men are more affected by dengue, women are dying more. 

Therefore, the minister urged people to take more care of women and children.

Bangladesh registered a total of 537 dengue deaths till Saturday. 

A total of 8,232 dengue patients, including 3,846 in the capital, are now receiving treatment at hospitals across the country, according to DGHS.

So far, the DGHS has recorded 112,184 dengue cases and 103,411 recoveries this year.
