The Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU) authorities have postponed their briefing on the late Jamaat leader Delawar Hossain Sayedee’s treatment due to security concerns.
The briefing was scheduled to be held on Wednesday morning, BSMMU authorities issued a message on Tuesday in this regard.
However, on Wednesday morning, BSMMU announced that the briefing had been postponed due to unavoidable reasons.
BSMMU Cardiology Department’s Prof Dr SM Mustafa Zaman earlier filed a general diary at Dhanmondi police station saying he had received death threats over Sayedee’s death at the hospital.
He said: "We treat everyone equally, regardless of religion, caste, or political affiliation. This applied to him (Sayedee) as well. We did give him the wrong treatment."
"However, baseless rumours targeting me as a murderer have been circulated. Many have even issued death threats," he added.
On Sunday, Delawar Hossain Sayedee, 83, was admitted to BSMMU. While receiving treatment, Sayedee passed away at 8:40pm on Monday, under the care of BSMMU Cardiology Department Chairman Professor Chowdhury Meshkat Ahmed.
