Nurul Haque Nur, president of a faction of Gono Odhikar Parishad, has been sued in a case filed with Paltan police station over the attack on a leader of Reza Kibria-led section of the party.
Tarek Rahman, a joint member secretary of the party, filed the case on Tuesday accusing three people including Nur. Some unidentified persons were also made accused in the case.
Two others accused are--Saiful Islam, Mahbubul Haque Shipon.
According to the statement of the case, on Monday afternoon, Tarek went to the 15th floor of the party's central office located at Zaman Tower on Calvert Road in the capital for a meeting.
After the meeting, he was attacked while taking out his motorcycle in the parking lot of the building.
The accused people repeatedly punched and kicked him, he claimed in the case statement.
After the attack, the leaders and workers of the party rescued him as injured and took him to Islami Bank Central Hospital in the capital.
However, Nur denied the allegation of attack and claimed that government is doing this by a section of the party to break the party.
Regarding the case, the officer-in-charge (OC) of Paltan police station said that a case has been registered against Nur.
Legal action will be taken, said police.
