He said: “Allegations of code of conduct violations are being carefully verified to ensure a free and fair election, and necessary action will be taken according to the legal process.”

According to sources, Kibria distributed campaign leaflets with party workers and supporters at Imambari Bazaar in Nabiganj Upazila around 6pm on January 2 and at Panjarai Bazaar around 4pm on January 3.

Complaints, supported by two photographs from each incident, were filed by Jitu Mia Centu, a resident of Osmani Road in Nabiganj municipality, and Mosfikuzzaman Chowdhury Noman, a resident of the central market area, with the Assistant Returning Officer and the Nabiganj Upazila Executive Officer.

The show-cause notice stated that, on preliminary examination, the allegations appear to violate the Code of Conduct for Political Parties and Candidates in Parliamentary Elections, 2025. It asked Kibria to explain why legal action should not be recommended against him to the Election Commission.
