State-run Trading Corporation of Bangladesh (TCB) will start selling of essential items, including rice for the first time, from Sunday at subsidized rates as part of its operation for the month of July this year.
The TCB will sell five kgs of rice at Tk30 per kg, two liters of soybean oil at Tk100 per liter, one kg sugar at Tk70 per kg and two kgs of lentil at Tk60 per kg among 10 million family card holders across the country, said a TCB press release.
Food Minister Sadhan Chandra Majumder and Commerce Minister Tipu Munshi will inaugurate the sale Sunday morning at the TCB sales ground behind the Polwel Convention Shopping Centre in city's Abdullahpur, the release said.
Starting from Sunday, the sale will continue throughout the month.
In a press meet on June 13 this year, Commerce Minister Tipu Munshi said: "Each family card holder would get five kilograms of rice in addition to the other essential items from the month of July."
With the help of city corporations and district and upazila administrations, the TCB will hold sale campaigns in specified date, time at their fixed selling points and shops.
