Commerce Adviser Sk Bashir Uddin announced on Sunday that the Trading Corporation of Bangladesh (TCB) will start selling essential commodities through its trucks in all 64 districts on Wednesday for low-income groups.
The initiative, which is already active in six districts, will now be expanded to the rest.
The announcement came during a virtual meeting with deputy commissioners (DCs), where discussions focused on the sale of TCB products through smart cards.
Bashir emphasized the government's commitment to reaching 10 million marginalized people through the TCB's subsidized goods.
He urged DCs to play a vital role in selecting the actual beneficiaries and instructed them to ensure the distribution of smart cards to all eligible recipients by March 17.
Addressing the DCs, the adviser said 5.7 million beneficiaries, including those awaiting smart card issuance but already listed, will receive goods through the system.
