Election Commissioner Rashida Sultana said no compromises would be made in order to ensure free, fair, and peaceful polls.
“If anyone has any other concerns about voting through ballot papers, shake them off,” she said while speaking at a meeting with the candidates of Tangail's Birbasinda and Parkhi union parishad polls on Thursday.
She also said that all the candidates should conduct election campaigns in accordance with the rules.
Dhaka Tribune“Instructions have been given to the administration and the law enforcement agencies in order to conduct fair polls,” the election commissioner added.
Kalihati Upazila Nirbahi Officer Nazmul Hussain, Tangail Superintendent of Police Sarkar Mohammad Kaiser, Additional District Magistrate Irene Akhter and others were also present at the meeting.
The voting for the union parishad polls will be held on July 17
