Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader on Sunday alleged that BNP has secret ties with Israel and the country's intelligence agency Mossad.

“The meeting of the Israeli intelligence agency with a senior leader of BNP was published in the media. BNP is always involved in such anti-state activities,” he said in a statement signed by Awami League Office Secretary Barrister Biplab.

Quader, in the statement, later and protested the recent “false, baseless, and fabricated” speech of BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir.

Talking about the government, the senior leader said: "Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman supported the freedom of Palestinians, and Bangabandhu's daughter Sheikh Hasina supports their legal rights as well."

Quader said: “BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has given a fictitious statement that the government is hacking the phones of opposition leaders using Israeli technology to create confusion. Such an irresponsible statement by a political leader is very shameful.”

Noting that Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir could not provide any specific evidence regarding allegations, Quader said: 'Whose phone has been hacked? It is illegal to make such comments on sensitive matters without evidence.”

He also alleged that Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir is involved in creating a conspiracy to influence the citizens and foreigners with false and fabricated information.

On Saturday, BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir alleged that the government has been hacking the smartphones of the opposition leaders by using the Pegasus spyware as part of its move to subdue its opponents.

“The telephone (cellphone) in your pocket is now your worst enemy,” the BNP leader said warning the opposition leaders and activists.

He alleged that the people of Bangladesh have been spied upon by the government with the Pegasus spyware as this technology is helping the regime collect any person's telephonic conversations, SMS, and other documents on their cellphones.
