Postgraduate Private Trainee Doctors Association has announced an indefinite strike starting from July 8, in order to demand a fair increase in allowances.
The circular, signed by the organization's President, Dr Jabir Hossain, and General Secretary, Dr Noorunnabi, was issued on Monday.
In the notification, the medical leaders expressed their disappointment over the lack of progress in addressing their legitimate demand for an increase in the monthly allowance, which currently stands at Tk20,000. Despite numerous discussions, they have only received false assurances and faced unnecessary delays.
Consequently, the doctors have decided to commence an indefinite strike on July 8, accompanied by a sit-in protest at the central Shaheed Minar at 10:30am on that day.
