Following an increase in price of daily commodities, six truckloads of chillies entered from India through Bhomra land port in Satkhira on Sunday afternoon bringing a more reasonable option for consumers.
The prices of these green chillies is Tk49-50 per kg.
The Ministry of Agriculture said that after the Eid holiday, 55 tons of green chillies arrived in the country till 5pm on Sunday.
So far 36,830 tons of green chillies have been allowed to be imported. A total of 93 tons have arrived in the country.
The ministry also informed that 138,500 tons of onions came from India against the import of 918,500 tons of onions.
Two weeks before Eid-ul-Azha, green chillies were sold for Tk120-140 per kg in the capital. Before Eid, it increased to Tk300-400. Since then the price has not gone down.
