The Eid holidays for government employees begin on Tuesday, as Monday was the last working day before Eid-ul-Azha.
Eid will be celebrated in Bangladesh on Thursday. As per an earlier announcement, the Eid holidays would have started on Wednesday and ended on Friday. However, the government extended the holidays on June 19.
After the Cabinet meeting on June 19, Cabinet Secretary Mahbub Hossain said that the prime minister had approved the holidays by executive order so that people could celebrate Eid properly.
He said an extra day off was given on the previous Eid as well, and the traffic management was fine. The premier, therefore, gave instructions for allowing one extra day so that everyone could go home safely.
