Three people, including a husband and wife, were killed in a road accident in Kazir Dighi area of Feni on the Dhaka-Chittagong highway early Thursday.
The deceased are Shimul, 29, his wife Yasmin, 21, of Ramakrishnapur Swarampur area of Comilla, and an unidentified male, aged around 36, said Mohipal Highway police station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Kamal Hossain.
The OC said that a couple was going to Comilla with household goods from Chittagong in a pickup van. On the way, a cargo lorry was hit from behind by the pickup.
Sagar, 20, of Comilla's Devidwar area and another unidentified person, aged around 49, were admitted to Feni 250 Bed District Sadar Hospital with serious injuries.
Doctor Raihan Uddin Chowdhury of the hospital's emergency department said that three people died in the incident. Two were seriously injured. The body has been kept in the hospital morgue.
Feni Fire Service and Civil Defence official Ujjal Barua said that the fire service received the information at around 2am. At 2:15am, a body was recovered from the spot. Later, five people were rescued.
