The traffic department has fined 23 motorcyclists for violating various rules including changing lanes while crossing the Padma Bridge.
They were fined at various points on Padma Bridge from 3pm till evening on Sunday.
According to traffic police sources, there are designated lanes for motorcycle movement. Drivers disobeyed government instructions by leaving the lane and switching to another lane. Also some have broken the rules.
For this, 22 motorcyclists were fined Tk3,000 taka each and one was fined Tk5,000 taka.
Confirming the matter, Munshiganj Traffic Police Inspector Bajlur Rahman said that motorcycle movement has been allowed on the Padma Bridge following six instructions. But the bikers did not follow rules and were fined.
