All the doctors and nurses who were not promoted due to various complications will be promoted soon, Health Minister Zahid Maleque has said.
“The problems in the health sector are being resolved by consulting with Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina,” he said at a program in Manikganj on Friday.
He added that all the empty posts in the health sector will be filled soon, including posts for doctors, and nurses.
“Currently there are 30,000 doctors in the country, of which 15,000 have been appointed since I assumed office. Earlier the number of nurses was 18,000, and now that number has increased to 45,000,” Maleque added.
The minister also instructed field workers to hold discussions on child marriage with the people. “You have to discuss child marriage with the people. Child marriage is the single leading cause of mortality among mothers and children.”
